Just One More Thing: A Columbo Rewatch
Join father-daughter duo Fletch and Abby as they revisit Columbo, one murder and one episode at a time. Whether you’ve watched every episode or you’re meeting Lt. Columbo for the first time, hit play and listen along.
From elaborate alibis to the moment the killer realizes they’ve underestimated the wrong detective, we’re talking favorite scenes, memorable villains, questionable ’70s decor, and the enduring charm of Peter Falk.
Expect laughs, family banter, and plenty of affectionate overthinking.
One raincoat, one cigar, and one final question at a time.

Welcome to Just One More Thing
FletchHey, welcome to episode one of Just One More Thing. This is Fletch.
AbbyAnd this is Abby.
FletchHey, we're a father-daughter team, and we have decided to start this brand new podcast called Just One More Thing. It's a rewatch of the greatest detective of all time, Columbo. So we are going to have some fun here. Abby, why don't you tell our audience a little bit about you?
Meet Abby
AbbyI'm Abby. I am dad's Fletch. Fletch's oldest daughter. He's got three daughters. I'm the oldest and the best. And also best child, because he's got sons too. So uh Yeah, where are you in the lineup?
FletchYou're you're number four. Four of eight. Number four. Number four of eight. And just thought I would do a Columbo podcast. I think I'm I think we all we we all grew up watching the show, and I still watch it into my adulthood. I think I've seen it, I don't know, eight or nine times at this point. Because it's kind of a comfort show. And anyways, I I teach middle school science, and I feel like after listening to 150 13-year-olds, I come home and need a little bit of a reprieve, and Columbo's kind of my reprieve. So so yeah, that's a little bit about me. Yeah, and I'm a podcaster.
Meet Fletch
FletchI run the Mango Times podcast, and I had this idea after, you know, what we do is we we often will send each other pictures of a Columbo episode and see if the other person can figure out what the episode is, what the murderer is, and we always do a little banter back and forth. And I thought, you know, we should do this on microphones in front of other people. So that's kind of the goal is just to talk through the episodes. But this all started back when the kids were little. We used to have Columbo Sundays. You remember that, Abs? We would uh after church, we'd sit in the family room and throw on an episode of Columbo, and I would immediately fall asleep and I'd have four, five, six kids in there watching Columbo with me. It's a pretty safe show for kids to watch. You didn't see any gruesome murders, but we definitely got to watch uh Peter Falk just having so much fun uh toying with his murderers. Uh this podcast is gonna be essentially
What to Expect
Fletchus watching an episode. We want you to watch the episode and then we'll talk through it and hit all of our favorite spots. The murder. We'll talk about the murderer, uh, maybe about Columbo, maybe that moment where we know he catches the murderer, which often is in the first five minutes of the show. Uh I'm looking forward to sharing kind of all my favorite moments of comedy, you know, when Columbo does just really, really simple, funny things. Uh we'll talk through all the details from 1970s Los Angeles as the camera pans around. We can talk about the Hollywood Bowl, we can talk about the pier, we can talk about just how big Colombo's territory was as a Los Angeles police detective. Because it took him up into the hills of Palm Springs, all the way up into the hills of the grapevine. Um and then we'll finish every episode with just our just one more thing, which is the one thing that each of us took away from the episode. So um that'll be fun. Are you looking forward to doing this? I am. Are you? I am. I think uh it'll be fun to take a 57-year-old guy's perspective, someone who watched it in real time back in the 70s, uh, along with a daughter in her, what are you in your 20s? 27. 27. So I think this is gonna be a lot of fun just to banter back and forth. We've had so much fun, and Colombo has played such a role uh in our relationship and in this family that I think it'll be fun just to talk about it out loud.
AbbyOkay, so next week on episode two, we're gonna
Coming Up Next
Abbydo a little bit of a breakdown of who Columbo is and why this show from 50 years ago is still worth watching, and and yeah, and then and then we'll move into watching the show and and talking about it. So we're really excited, and we hope you guys listen along with us and and enjoy Columbo with us and and maybe get indoctrinated into watching this show with us. Oh, that's what I hope. So, yeah, thank you for thank you for joining us. And oh, you know what else? You could also join us with a little cigar, a little laughter, and it'll be great. So, so yeah.
FletchYeah, I would encourage I would encourage people to go grab a box of cigars just so they can smoke along with us.
AbbyYep.
FletchI have mine lit right now and I'm looking at Abby and she's puffing smoke right into her microphone.
AbbyYeah, totally.
FletchHey, thanks for joining us on this episode. We'll see you next week.
